Gwinnett County Health Department and Navigate Recovery Gwinnett, in cooperation with Georgia Overdose Prevention, are offering Narcan training (a drug used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses) and doses FREE to the community.

Narcan, also known as naloxone, will be made available on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month to friends and family members of opioid users, as well as users themselves, who want to have it on hand in case of an overdose.

Everyone  must pick up the dose at 10 a.m. at Navigate Recovery’s main office, Safe Harbor, which is located at 52 Gwinnett Drive in Lawrenceville.

The only requirement to receive a dose is that everyone must participate in a training beforehand on how to use it.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - Navigate Recovery Gwinnett

We’ve all been affected by the outbreak of Coronavirus (aka COVID19) in our community and the disruption to our daily routine. The number of cases in Georgia has risen to 146 with 7 of those belonging to Gwinnett county at this writing. The President and the CDC are recommending that we all limit our interactions to groups no larger than 10 people and if possible we should isolate at home.

As a result of the fluid conditions we’re experiencing related to Coronavirus, we have elected to shift facilitation of recovery meetings and coaching and provide these services through our on-line services and other technologies effective 3/17/2020.

Most of all, we are focused on the health of our peers, our employees and our community. We want all people that support the recovery lifestyle to have access to the support they require to embrace and continue their recovery from substance and alcohol addiction. Our team is committed to providing the best possible services utilizing the best tools and resources available. Please stay safe, follow the CDC guidelines and stay connected to your recovery.

Sincerely,

Farley Barge | Co-Founder
